As an AUSD parent and 25-year education policy veteran, I believe every child deserves access to an excellent education. I believe Alameda's schools should prepare every student – not just some – for college, careers, and a fulfilling life.

I believe every student deserves to feel seen, supported, and motivated to succeed. I believe this because I've spent my career fighting for it, and because I've seen it matter up close, both as a parent and as an appointed trustee.

Education and service have always surrounded me — I grew up in a family of educators, and I married into one. At the center of both families is a shared belief: that we each have a responsibility to leave the world a little better than we found it. This belief shaped my career in education policy and drew me deeper into this community.

In Alameda, I've served as a school site council member, volunteered on parcel tax campaigns, and chaired the district's Parcel Tax Oversight Committee. When I was appointed to the AUSD school board in 2025, it felt like the natural next step. It has allowed me to use the expertise I'd built in education policy, advocacy, and research in service of the schools where my own children have grown up.

What I've seen on the board has deepened my resolve. Alameda's schools are full of remarkable students as well as dedicated teachers and staff. But there is work ahead. We need to hold high expectations for every child, close stubborn opportunity gaps, keep students engaged and supported, and manage our finances wisely. These aren't abstract concerns. They're what I hear from parents and community members, and what we see in our data.
